WordPress has no built-in box for a site-wide script tag. A header and footer plugin adds one, and works with every theme.

Before you start

  • A website widget with your site on its Allowed origins list, for example https://www.example.com. Copy its snippet from Install → Embed snippet.

Add the widget

Install a header and footer plugin

In Plugins → Add New Plugin, search for WPCode, or any plugin that adds code to the site footer. Install and activate it.

Paste the snippet into the footer box

In WPCode, go to Code Snippets → Header & Footer and paste into Footer:

Use your widget’s own snippet, or replace YOUR_WIDGET_ID and kl_pk_... with its values.

Save

Click Save Changes. If you use a caching plugin, clear its cache.
You can paste the snippet into your theme’s footer.php instead, just before <?php wp_footer(); ?>. Use a child theme: a theme update overwrites the parent theme’s files. Block themes have no footer.php, so use the plugin.

Check it works

Open any page. A round Ask AI button appears in the bottom-right corner. Ask a question and check that the answer lists its Sources. Nothing there? See Troubleshooting.
