Ask answers your team’s questions from your knowledge bases, with citations. Each person signs in with their own Kelu account, so there is no client key and nothing is public. Restricted documents are included.

Where it appears

Dashboard

Ask in the sidebar. Covers the workspace you are in.

Browser side panel

Beside any page. Covers every workspace you belong to.

Editor

/mcp/portal in Cursor, Claude and other MCP clients. Covers every workspace you belong to.
The dashboard and the side panel share one conversation history. Questions asked from an editor are not saved as conversations.

Who can use it

RoleCan ask in
Owner, adminEvery knowledge base in the workspace
Member, userEvery knowledge base with Workspace members switched on (the default), plus any where they have the Chat permission
The Workspace members switch is under the knowledge base’s Settings → Who can reach this. Turn it off to make a knowledge base need-to-know, then grant Chat to named people on the Team page. See Roles & Permissions. An internal knowledge base has no public surface, so Ask (and /mcp/portal) is where your team reaches it.

Ask a question

1

Open Ask

Click Ask in the dashboard sidebar. Every knowledge base you may chat in is selected.
2

Narrow the scope (optional)

Use the Knowledge Bases, Groups and Sources filters. They combine: a source group and a source together means documents in both. The Sources filter only lists sources in the groups you picked.
3

Ask

Type your question (up to 4,000 characters) and press Enter. The answer streams in with a Sources list, thumbs up/down and a read-aloud button.
A filter can only narrow what you can reach. It never gives you a knowledge base you cannot chat in.

Conversations

History lists your conversations in the current workspace. Search finds them by title or by the text of any question you asked. Rename one with the pencil icon (up to 200 characters). Click New to start over. Nobody else can open your conversations.

Troubleshooting

  • “No knowledge bases are available to you yet.” Ask an owner or admin to turn on Workspace members for a knowledge base, or to grant you Chat.
  • “Select at least one knowledge base / group / source to ask a question.” One of the filters is set to none. Open it and click Select all.
  • A knowledge base from another workspace is missing. The dashboard shows one workspace at a time. Switch workspace, or use the side panel, which covers all of them.
