Connect a Notion workspace and Kelu indexes the pages and databases you share with it.

Before you start

You need to be able to create an internal integration in the Notion workspace (usually a workspace owner).

Set up

Create an integration

Go to notion.so/my-integrations, create an internal integration, and copy its token (it starts with ntn_).

Share pages with it

An integration only sees what you share with it. On each top-level page or database you want indexed, open the ••• menu, go to Connections, and add the integration. Pages beneath it are shared too.

Add the source

Open the knowledge base, click Add source and pick Notion. Enter a Display name, paste the Integration token, and optionally set a Root page ID or Database ID. Click Add source. The first sync starts right away.

What gets indexed

  • One document per page, with its title and Notion URL. Child pages are documents of their own.
  • Headings, paragraphs, lists, to-dos (with their checked state), quotes, callouts, toggles, tables and code blocks.
  • For database pages, the properties are written above the body. Text, number, checkbox, URL, email, phone, select, status, multi-select, date and people are kept. Relations and rollups are not.
  • Images, embeds and file attachments are not indexed.
  • With a Root page ID, databases inside that page are not followed. Add another source with the Database ID to index one.

Sync

Notion re-syncs every 5 minutes. Pages that have not changed are not re-embedded. Click Sync Now on the source page to sync at once. See Keeping content fresh.

Troubleshooting

  • Pages are missing. The integration isn’t connected to them. Add it under Connections on the page or its parent, then click Sync Now.
  • A sync shows “Not indexed: N entries”. Notion refused those pages this time. They keep their last indexed version, and the next sync tries again. Click that line under Sync history to see which pages and why.
  • 401 or 403 errors. The token was revoked or the integration was removed. Create a new token and enter it on the source’s Configuration tab.
  • Database rows look thin. Only the property types listed above are indexed.
  • The content must stay internal. Add the source to an internal knowledge base, or set Visibility to Restricted when you add it. Switching a source to Restricted later only covers pages indexed after the change. See Visibility.
